John Howard

John is a consulting leader with over 25 years’ experience in boutique and global firms. Having worked his way up from junior consultant to CEO and NED roles, he brings firsthand experience of leadership, sales, delivery and governance in professional services.

He’s passionate about helping leaders develop in their roles and build great businesses.

Outside work, he enjoys travelling and is an active private pilot. (Be careful asking about the latter. He might never stop talking!)

Career highlights include:

  • As MD of a £50m services division of a FTSE 250, led over 800 staff delivering outsourced public services. Increased revenue 18%, grew margins 8% and reduced operating costs 15%.
  • Currently NED of a high-growth, founder-led consultancy. Focus is on strategy, growth and operational enablement of the company’s development roadmap.
  • As CEO, led the PE-backed MBO of a leading UK digital health and care consultancy. Supported founders to align their exit ambitions and achieved their full target valuation on exit.
  • Following MBO, grew revenue 33%, gross margin 58% and EBITDA 44% in first 2 years, all while diversifying markets and services.
  • Also post-MBO, achieved multiple Great Place to Work accreditations, attracting talent from top firms and maintaining 85%+ staff retention.
  • As partner at KPMG, created global healthcare data analytics that grew to six countries and £10m revenue in first year.
